The Takt Trio performs the Brahms horn trio alongside the classic 20th-century work it inspired: Ligeti’s horn trio, itself an homage à Brahms. The Library of Congress holds the holograph manuscript of Brahms’ trio in its collection, and it is a special treat to hear these works back-to-back, as they are oft-heralded as the representative works for this ensemble in their century of composition.
This concert was made possible with the generous support of the Verna and Irving Fine Endowment in the Library of Congress.
Pre-concert Lecture: “Is That Natural? A Closer Look at the Horn Trios of Brahms and Ligeti” by David Plylar, PhD, Music Division, 12:30 pm, Whittall Pavilion.
This concert was rescheduled from the 2022/23 season, due to repairs of the Coolidge Auditorium. Tickets from the previous date will not be honored. All interested in attending must register for the new date.
