The Zéphyros Winds are joined by pianist Audrey Andrist for a fascinating array of favorites and finds in this special program. Featured will be a new transcription of an Irving Fine orchestral work (
Diversions) created by legendary hornist and composer/arranger Jeff Scott, commissioned by the Library. The program also includes major works from the Library’s collections, like Ruth Crawford Seeger’s late Suite for Wind Quintet and a transcription of Leonard Bernstein’s Overture to Candide. Other gems by mid-20th-century composers showcase the versatility and virtuosity of the winds and piano, apart and together.

Pre-concert Conversation with the Artists: 6:30 pm, Whittall Pavilion

This concert was made possible with the generous support of the Verna and Irving Fine Endowment in the Library of Congress.
