This virtual webinar event celebrates Ralph Ellison's creativity and observation of African American life through discussion of Michal Raz-Russo and John F. Callahan's collaboratively created book "Ralph Ellison: Photographer" (published by Steidl/The Gordon Parks Foundation/The Ralph and Fanny Ellison Charitable Trust, 2023).  The book uses select photographs and historical documents from Ellison collections at the Library of Congress to explore Ellison (1913-1994) as a personal and professional freelance photographer, revealing an artistic side of Ellison that is not widely known to those who primarily appreciate him as a leading African American cultural critic, essayist, and author of the acclaimed 1952 novel "Invisible Man."
