This small, curated display of selected items showcases some of the Library’s collections related to Juneteenth—which stands for June 19th. The U.S. federal holiday, created in 2021, commemorates the emancipation of African Americans who were still enslaved in Galveston, Texas, and other places until the end of the Civil War in 1865.
