A jazz artist for the hip-hop generation, José James masterfully fuses jazz, soul, hip-hop, and R&B into a signature sound described by The New York Times as “the result of the black-pop continuum, slow-cooked for more than 50 years.” Winner of the Edison Award and the L'Académie du Jazz Grand Prix, James returns to the Coolidge Auditorium to perform music from his deeply personal, self-produced album, 1978. Reflecting on this latest work, James shares, “I’ve been ready for my music for a long time.” Joined by a stellar lineup, featuring background vocalists J. Hoard and Taali, James promises an electrifying evening that will leave the audience spellbound.
