Horszowski Trio
Jesse Mills, violin
Ole Akahoshi, cello
Rieko Aizawa, piano

Once called “…arguably the most compelling American group to come on the scene” by The New Yorker, the Horszowski Trio is equally at home with classic literature and modern musings. The concert will open with the Rebecca Clarke’s piano trio, one of the composer’s early successes that led to a commission from Elizabeth Sprague Coolidge. Then the musicians turn to the two piano trios of Charles Wuorinen, whose collection is held at the Library. The second trio was Wuorinen’s final work, composed specifically for the Horszowski Trio and receives its formal premiere at this concert. The program ends with the beauty of Schubert’s second piano trio, among the composer’s last compositions.
