The brilliant German-Austrian composer Brigitta Muntendorf will be featured in a D.C. premiere of her work Trilogy for Two Pianos, Tape, and Live Electronics. Winner of the German Record Critics’ Award in 2023 for contemporary classical music, Trilogy will be performed by pianists Ning Yu and Cory Smythe, along with computer musicians and sound engineers Levy Lorenzo and Jeff Svatek. A discussion with Muntendorf about her piece was prerecorded and you can access it here, or on YouTube here.
As a prelude, violinist Chris Otto will join Ning Yu in a performance of Muhal Richard Abrams' Duet for Violin and Piano. You won’t want to miss this chance to hear music from the European vanguard alongside a classic Library commission.
There will be no preconcert event.
