- Application Notes: The application period for the 2025 session is now closed. Generally, applications should include a 2-page CV, a 500-word research proposal, and two letters of recommendation. See the program website for more information on how to submit your application materials. Two types of fellowships are offered, one for senior scholars and one for emerging scholars.
- Compensation: Research Grant; $5,000 for Senior Scholar fellowships and $7,000 for Emerging Scholar fellowships.

- Program Duration: Short-term. Senior Scholar fellowships require a minimum of two weeks of research onsite at the Library of Congress. Emerging Scholar fellowships have a minimum of four weeks of research onsite.
- Qualifications: Doctoral degree in the humanities or social sciences.
The Lilly Scholar-in-Residence program provides individuals with the opportunity to pursue research in the area of African and Middle Eastern religious cultures using the unparalleled collections of the African and Middle Eastern Division of the Library of Congress in Washington, DC. It is open to postdoctoral and senior scholars in the humanities and social sciences.
