- Application Notes: The U.S. Copyright Office offers 5 law clerk programs. Apply only ONCE for any of these programs, citing your preference in the application. This is 1 of the 5 programs available to students. Applications are considered on a rolling basis, but it is suggested to apply at least 3 months in advance of tentative start date. The U.S. Copyright Office Law Clerk Program, Office of the Register (REG) provides volunteer legal internships for talented law students with an interest in copyright law and policy. Law clerks gain valuable experience and insight working with Office attorneys on copyright-related issues that arise within the Office, before Congress and in the courts. Law clerks are instrumental in helping to prepare Copyright Office reports for Congress. These Law Clerks are assigned to work in the Office of the Register (REG).
