Summary
- The Milken Archive of Jewish Music documents, preserves, and makes available music of the American Jewish experience through photos, videos, and oral histories of conductors, performers, composers, and religious musicians. Musical genres include classical, jazz, opera, Yiddish theater, and religious music. The Music Division holds numerous collections of American Jewish composers, including Leonard Bernstein, Aaron Copland, David Diamond, and George Gershwin, as well as collections of Jewish composers who settled in the United States, such as Ernest Bloch, Mario Davidovsky, and Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco. The Music Division also holds the Irene Heskes Collection of Yiddish American Popular Song.
