- John Adams (b. 1947) is an American composer, conductor, and clarinetist. In 1984, he was commissioned by the Koussevitzky Music Foundation in the Library of Congress for the composition Eros Piano, a concerto for piano and orchestra. The Music Division received a revised holograph score in 1990 (https://lccn.loc.gov/90753434). In 1995, he was commissioned by the McKim Fund in the Library of Congress for the composition Road Movies for violin and piano. The Music Division received a revised holograph score with related electronic materials in 1996 (https://lccn.loc.gov/99478075). In 2014, he was co-commissioned by the Dina Koston and Roger Shapiro Fund for New Music in the Library of Congress with Stanford Live, Carnegie Hall, the Juilliard School, and Wigmore Hall with the support of André Hoffmann for the composition Second Quartet for string quartet. The Music Division received a signed computer printout with related electronic materials in 2014 (https://lccn.loc.gov/2016560769). The Music Division is the repository for the John Adams Music Manuscripts and Papers (https://lccn.loc.gov/2018571958).
