- Ned Rorem (b. 1923) is an American composer, author, and educator. In 1965, he was commissioned by the Koussevitzky Music Foundation in the Library of Congress for the composition Letters from Paris for chorus and chamber orchestra. The Music Division received a holograph score in 1966 (https://lccn.loc.gov/67038891). In 1972, he was commissioned by the McKim Fund in the Library of Congress for the composition Night Music for violin and piano; the Music Division holds an annotated facsimile (https://lccn.loc.gov/90753429). In 1979, he was commissioned by the Elizabeth Sprague Coolidge Foundation in the Library of Congress for the composition Nantucket Songs for soprano and piano. The Music Division holds the holograph score (https://lccn.loc.gov/87753976) and an inscribed facsimile (https://lccn.loc.gov/87753977). In 1996, he was commissioned by the McKim Fund for the composition Autumn Music for violin and piano; the Music Division holds a facsimile (https://lccn.loc.gov/00534679).
