  • -  In a letter of April 30, 1547, Zumárraga had reported the misdeeds of Juan Negrete, archdeacon of the cathedral, and that he had the records of judicial inquiries into the matter. The Prince tells him that corrective action is the bishop's responsibility. The Prince is sending a letter to the audiencia of New Spain commanding them to give the bishop whatever support he needs.
