Biography Henry Taylor

Henry Taylor was born in 1942 in Virginia. He is the author of seven collections of poetry, including The Horse Show at Midnight (1966), An Afternoon of Pocket Billiards (1975), and The Flying Change: Poems (1985), winner of the Pulitzer Prize. His other honors include the Witter Bynner Foundation Poetry Prize from the American Academy and Institute of Arts and Letters and two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts. Taylor has also translated many texts from Bulgarian, French, Hebrew, Italian, and Russian. He taught at American University from 1971-2003 and served as co-director of the Master of Fine Arts program for creative writing.
