Donald Justice was born in Miami, Florida, in 1925. He published more than 10 poetry collections, including The Sunset Maker (1987), Platonic Scripts (1984), and New and Selected Poems (1995). His honors include a Pulitzer Prize, a Bollinger Prize, the James Laughlin Award, the Lannan Literary Award for Poetry, the Ambassador Book Award for Poetry, and a Guggenheim Fellowship for Creative Arts. He taught at the University of Iowa, Syracuse University, Princeton University, and the University of Florida-Gainesville. Justice died in 2004.
