George Starbuck was born in 1931 in Columbus, Ohio. He is the author of Visible Ink (2002); The Argot Merchant Disaster: Poems New and Selected (1982), winner of the Lenore Marshall Poetry Prize; and Bone Thoughts (1960), winner of the Yale Series of Younger Poets. His other honors include an Aiken Taylor Award for Modern American Poetry. Starbuck died in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, in 1996.
