Ann Darr was born in Bagley, Iowa, in 1920. An American poet whose work was informed by her time serving as a pilot in the Women Airforce Service Pilots during World War II, she documented her experiences in many of her 10 published books, including Cleared For Landing (1978). After the war, she moved to Washington, D.C., and taught at American University and the Bethesda Writer’s Center for many years. Darr died in 2007.
