Henry Rago was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1915. He published one book of poetry during his lifetime, A Sky of Late Summer (1963), and published his poems in many journals; his first publication appeared in Poetry magazine at the age of 16. He went on to become the editor of Poetry for 14 years, from 1955-1969, and taught theology and literature at the University of Chicago. Rago died in 1969.
