
David Maraniss is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who has been affiliated with The Washington Post for more than 40 years. He is the author of 11 books, including the critically acclaimed best-sellers “When Pride Still Mattered,” “First in His Class,” “They Marched into Sunlight,” “Clemente,” “Once in a Great City,” “Barack Obama: The Story” and “Rome 1960.” He is a visiting distinguished professor at Vanderbilt University and a fellow of the Society of American Historians. His new book is “A Good American Family: The Red Scare and My Father” (Simon & Schuster). It is the story a World War II veteran and commander of an all-black company who came to be named a communist and was called before the House Un-American Activities Committee.
