Peter Brannen is an award-winning science journalist whose work has appeared in The New York Times, The Atlantic, Wired, The Boston Globe and Slate. His new book, “The Ends of the World: Volcanic Apocalypses, Lethal Oceans and Our Quest to Understand Earth's Past Mass Extinctions” (Ecco), is about the five major extinctions in Earth’s history. Brannen is a Scripps Fellow at the University of Colorado and was a journalist-in-residence at the National Evolutionary Synthesis at Duke University. He has also been an Ocean Science Journalism Fellow at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
