Alexander Sammartino was born in Rhode Island, grew up in Arizona and now lives in New York. He received a master’s degree in fine arts from Syracuse University. Sammartino’s debut novel, “Last Acts,” which was selected as an Editor’s Choice by The New York Times, is featured at the 2024 National Book Festival. It focuses on a father and son trying to avoid the bankruptcy of their struggling firearms store and explores America’s gun and opioid crises with dark humor.
