  • -  Bound in a large, fragile, brown leather volume, this clipping describes the inaugural ceremonies of President Cleveland. The day was bitterly cold, with snow flurries. Reversing the usual order, Mr. Cleveland read his inaugural address before the swearing-in ceremony. A small, gilt-edged, black leather Bible, no more than 5 x 3 inches, was used. It is described in detail here. It had been given to Cleveland by his mother forty-one years before, and was the same Bible he used in his first inauguration in 1885. He specially requested this Bible to be used again for his second inauguration.
