Veterans History Project Oral History Interview to be Demonstrated in LC Pavilion at National Book Festival

Peggy Bulger, head of the Library’s American Folklife Center, will demonstrate how an oral history of a war veteran might be carried out as part of the Library’s Veterans History Project in the Library of Congress Pavilion at the National Book Festival on the west lawn of the Capitol, Oct. 12, at 12:30 p.m. Her subject will be Sam Gibbons, a member of the Five Star Advisory Council for the project, who is now chairman of Gibbons & Company. Gibbons was an infantry officer in the 501st Parachute Infantry Regiment during World War II and served as a U.S. Representative from Florida for 34 years.
Ellen McCulloch-Lovell, director of the project, will give a brief explanation of the Veterans History Project and show a five-minute video before the interview begins.
Members of the press and public are welcome to participate.
