Background:
The Luboml Collection is a unique compilation of photographs, photographic negatives, videotaped oral histories, manuscripts, maps, letters and other materials that richly document life in the Jewish community of Luboml, Poland (now in Ukraine), before World War II. His Excellency Przemyslaw Grudzinski, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the United States, will participate.

That evening, the documentary "Luboml: My Heart Remembers" will be screened in the Library's Mary Pickford Theater at 7 p.m. A reception, beginning at 6:30 pm. will precede and follow the screening. The film, which is slated for national broadcast, savors everyday life in this small Polish market town through the intimacies of historic photographs and the reminiscences of former residents. The documentary's intent is to honor every life extinguished by human hatred and to point out that people are individuals before they become victims.

Following the screening, the producers, Ron Steinman, former NBC News Bureau Chief in Saigon, Hong Kong and London and Eileen Douglas, former news anchor for 1010 WINS Radio in New York City, will take questions from the audience.
