April 15, 2004 Zora Neale Hurston Biographical Performances Return To The Library of Congress May 4

Two free performances about the life of harlem renaissance author Zora Neale Hurston will take place at 10 a.m. and noon on Tuesday, May 4, at the Library of Congress' Jefferson Building, Coolidge Auditorium, 10 first street. S.E., Washington D.C.

Through Hurston's own words, this one-woman show, "ZORA!," highlights Hurston's complex relationships in the turbulent early 20th century.

Stage and television actress Kim Brockington will portray Hurston, one of the most significant and controversial figures of the harlem renaissance. Brockington will also play the parts of Hurston's patron Charlotte Osgood, writer Langston Hughes, Zora's husbands and others. Question and answer sessions with the actress and other Hurston specialists will follow.

Join the Library of Congress for one of these performances, which illuminate Hurston's life as a spirited african american woman, author and anthropologist.
