Franklin is considered the premier historian of the African American experience in the United States; he worked with Thurgood Marshall's NAACP legal defense fund in 1953 to help document the history of the 14th Amendment.
Carter played a leading role in litigating major cases of the Civil Rights era from 1944 to 1968. He was particularly influential in supervising legal briefs for the NAACP'S attack on segregation.
Come to the Library to hear two of the most important figures in the Civil Rights movement discuss a landmark case.
