December 6, 2004 China's Economy Is Subject of Lecture on Dec. 10

Siwei Cheng will deliver a lecture on "China's Market-economy Status and Future Economic Development" at the Library of Congress at noon on Friday, Dec. 10, in the Pickford Theater, third floor of the James Madison Building, 101 Independence Ave. S.E., Washington, D.C. The event, which is sponsored by the Library's Asian Division, is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required.

Siwei Cheng is vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress in the People's Republic of China. He holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of California at Los Angeles and an honorary doctorate in business administration from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The author of more than 20 books and 100 articles, Cheng is a professor at the Systems Science Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing, China.
