December 19, 2004 2004 National Film Registry Picks To Be Announced by Librarian of Congress

Librarian of Congress James H. Billington will announce the 2004 selections to the National Film Registry on Tuesday, December 28. This group of titles will bring the total number of films placed on the Registry to 400.
Under the terms of the National Film Preservation Act of 1992, each year the Librarian of Congress, with advice from the National Film Preservation Board, names 25 films to be National Film Registry. The films are chosen because they are "culturally, historically or aesthetically" significant.
