WHAT: An opportunity for the media to preview Leonardo da Vinci’s preparatory drawing for the painting “Adoration of the Magi.”

WHEN: 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6

WHERE: The Library of Congress, in the Whittall Pavilion on the ground floor of the Thomas Jefferson Building, 10 First St. S.E., Washington, D.C.

WHO: Speakers will include Matt Raymond, director of the Office of Communications, Library of Congress; Stephen D. Bryen, president of Finmeccanica’s U.S. headquarters; Paolo Galluzzi, director of the National Museum of the History of Science in Florence, Italy; and Maurizio Seracini, art diagnostician and director of the Center of Interdisciplinary Science for Art, Architecture and Archaeology at the University of California, San Diego.

BACKGROUND: The Library of Congress will host a special two-day showing of Leonardo da Vinci’s preparatory drawing from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7 and Friday, Dec. 8, in the Northwest Pavilion on the second floor of the Thomas Jefferson Building. The viewing is free and open to the public; no tickets or reservations are needed. Rome-based Finmeccanica, an aerospace and defense company, is the sponsor of the display.
