December 28, 2006 Library to Close Jan. 2 for Ford State Funeral

All buildings of the Library of Congress will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 2, in observance of the state funeral of President Gerald Ford in Washington.

The Library, its Reading Rooms and public exhibition areas will be open as usual on Saturday, Dec. 30. The Library will be closed as usual Sunday, Dec. 31, and closed for the federal New Year's Day holiday on Monday, Jan. 1.

In addition, the Library will be open regular hours on Wednesday, Jan. 3; and due to a special event at the Library, the Thomas Jefferson Building will be closed to the public until 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4. There will be no public tours available until 1:30 p.m. that day.
