Contact: Visitor Services Office (202) 707-8000

The Visitors Gallery overlooking the Main Reading Room at the Library of Congress will be closed beginning Friday, March 18, and will reopen on Monday, March 28, to allow for ongoing restoration work. All other public areas, exhibitions and reading rooms at the Library are unaffected and will remain open as usual.

Visitors will not be allowed to enter the Visitors Gallery. Library docent-led tour groups will view the Main Reading Room from a small, enclosed area. However, access will be restricted to Library docent-led groups only. Unaccompanied visitors will not be allowed access. The Library of Congress and the Architect of the Capitol regret the inconvenience.

Unreserved docent-led tours are available to individuals and small groups of fewer than 10 on a first-come, first-served basis Monday through Friday at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.; and Saturdays at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Visitors should come to the ground floor information desks 20 minutes before tour time to see about tour availability.
