The John Adams Building of the Library of Congress will be closed to the public Memorial Day weekend, beginning Friday, May 2 at 5:30 p.m. through 5 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28 for pre-scheduled maintenance.
Researchers and staff will not have access to the Science & Business Reading Room or collections located within the building on Saturday, May 26. Researchers may contact the reading room (202.707.5639) or the Collections Access, Loan and Management Division Office (202.707.7400) for information on advance materials requests, study shelves and desks by 2 p.m. on Friday, May 25.
Regular Library service will be provided in the Madison and Jefferson Buildings on Saturday, May 25 from 8:30 to 5 p.m.
The Jefferson Building Great Hall and exhibits will be open to the public on Monday, May 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All reading rooms and other buildings will be closed on Monday in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday.
In addition, the Library's Packard Campus in Culpeper, Va., will close for an electrical power upgrade beginning close of business Friday, May 24. The Packard Campus Data Center equipment will be operational by 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 25.
As a result, researchers or staff will not have access to digital collections in the Moving Image Research Center or the Recorded Sound Research Center in the Madison Building beginning 4 p.m. on Friday, May 24 through Tuesday, May 28 at 8:30 a.m. Additionally, Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division (MBRS) equipment will be operational by 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28.
All Library buildings are expected to return to normal operations on Tuesday, May 28.
