September 8, 2013 Jefferson Building To Close Early September 20

On Friday, Sept. 20, the Great Hall, all exhibitions and the Library Shop in the Thomas Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress will close to the public at 3 p.m. for a special event.

Additionally, the West Main doors and the Capitol Visitors Center tunnel will be closed to the general public and researchers.

Researchers with Library issued credentials may access the Jefferson Building reading rooms, as they will be open normal hours of service. Entry is via the Southeast (2nd Street) entrance as well as via tunnels from the Adams and Madison buildings of the Library. ONLY the East Cloak Room will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. All other reading rooms and exhibitions in the Madison and Adams buildings will be open as usual with normal hours of service.

All building exits will be available for use in the event of an emergency. Normal access to the Great Hall, exhibitions and all other sections of the Jefferson building will resume at regular hours on Saturday, September 21.
