Due to a planned power outage, most of the Library’s public websites (loc.gov and others) will be unavailable from 5 p.m. ET, Friday, Aug. 9 through Sunday, Aug. 11.
Copyright.gov, Congress.gov and catalog.loc.gov, however, will remain available.
On Saturday, Aug. 10, all reading rooms and research areas, the Library Shop, and the Madison and Adams buildings will be closed to the public. The Thomas Jefferson Building’s Great Hall and exhibitions will be open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on August 9 and 10. The Thomas Jefferson Building is located at 10 First St. S.E., Washington, D.C.
The Young Readers Center in the Jefferson building will be open on Saturday, Aug. 10 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
No food service will be available throughout the day; however the vending lounge in the Jefferson Building cellar will be open.
The Architect of the Capitol will be conducting essential maintenance on the Capitol Hill campus from Friday, Aug. 9 through Sunday, Aug. 11, resulting in power outages that will require these closings.
