Literacy Leaders Share Tips and Resources in Video, Story Map and Webinar Series

In celebration of the 2022 Literacy Awards winners and honorees, the Library of Congress will present a five-part webinar series to begin next month. A video and Story Map that are now available explore the impact of this year’s winners and honorees on individuals around the world through their successful literacy programs.

The free, live webinar series will begin on Dec. 15, 2022, with a panel-style discussion featuring representatives from this year’s top Literacy Award prize winners, Street Child (London, United Kingdom), Make Way for Books (Tucson, Arizona) and Young African Refugees for Integral Development (Kampala, Uganda). The panel will include an opportunity for audience Q&A.

Subsequent webinars will feature this year’s Successful Practice Honorees discussing themes such as promoting a culture of reading, advancing adult literacy in the United States and nurturing partnerships in the nonprofit literacy world.

Dec. 15, 2022, 1 - 2:30 p.m. EST: 2022 Top Three Award Winners Join for a conversation with this year’s top three Literacy Awards Program winners. This session will be moderated by Lee Ann Potter, director of Professional Learning and Outreach Initiatives at the Library, and will feature panelists from the following organizations:

  • Street Child (2022 David M. Rubenstein Prize Winner)
  • Make Way for Books (2022 American Prize Winner)
  • Young African Refugees for Integral Development (2022 International Prize Winner)
