The Thomas Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress will have adjusted operating hours on June 11 and June 19.

On Tuesday, June 11, a special event in the Great Hall will reduce access in the Thomas Jefferson Building. All exhibitions, public spaces and the Library Shop in the Jefferson Building will be closed for the entire day, and no timed-entry passes will be offered to the public.

Researchers may access the Jefferson Building reading rooms as they will be open normal hours of service with regular access. Entry is via the Independence Avenue door to the Madison Building and then via tunnel to the Jefferson Building. The West Basement (Carriage) doors and the Capitol Visitor Center tunnel to the Library will be closed to staff, researchers and the general public.

All building exits will be available for use in the event of an emergency. Normal access to the Great Hall, Main Reading Room, exhibitions and all other affected areas of the Jefferson Building will resume at regular hours on Wednesday, June 12.

On Wednesday, June 19, the Thomas Jefferson Building will be open to visitors with timed-entry passes on the federal Juneteenth holiday.

All otherĀ  buildings of the Library will be closed in observance of the federal holiday, including all reading rooms. There will be no research availability or reader registration on the federal holiday.
