  • -  Quilt size: 105" x 77"
  • -  Where did you learn the pattern? "This is a traditional Amish design and also in many quilt books. I used a pattern from a quilt book, I'm not sure which one."
  • -  How did you choose the materials used in your quilt? "After asking my husband many times to choose a quilt he'd like me to make for him he finally saw a tumbling blocks quilt similar in colors to mine in 'The World of Amish Quilts' by Pellman. When he saw the photo he said 'that's the one I want' so I changed the colors to suit me and those are the colors you see in the photo of the contest."
  • -  What was your primary reason for entering the Lands' End contest? Do you frequently enter your quilts in competition? "This was the second quilt contest I ever entered -- the first being the Lands' End 1992. I love this quilt and thought it was worthy of a contest so I entered. I have only entered one other contest after this and was pleased to receive second place."
  • -  How long have you been making quilts? How did you learn to quilt? "I began quilting in 1982. I took a piecing and quilting class at our local quilt store."
  • -  Has being a winner in the Land's End contest made a difference in your life? Has it changed the way you look at your work as a quilt maker? "Imagine my surprise when I was told for the second time I had won the state contest prize! Winning this contest twice has really made me feel confident with my quilting. Seeing the other winners made me proud to be included with such beautiful quilts."
