This weekly provided the farmer and his family with a variety of information and entertainment: for the farmer there were articles on agriculture, gardening, dairy products, poultry, and fruit-growing, as well as grange news. For the women there were recipes, household items and a women's department, and, for the children, a "Youth's Department." Cf. American periodicals, 1741-1900.
