-  Renovating houses since he was a child working alongside his dad and brother, Tom Silva today appears on "This Old House," "Ask This Old House" and "Inside This Old House." His family's construction company, Silva Brothers Construction, made up of Tom, his brother, and nephew, built the original set for the WGBH-TV Boston production of "The Victory Garden" when they were then selected to be the general contractors for "This Old House." Now celebrating his 18th year during the 2004-05 season as a member of the "This Old House" home improvement team, Silva has provided years of expert advice as a general contractor to home enthusiasts across the country. He has contributed to several books, including "Complete Remodeling" and is on the editorial board of This Old House magazine. He lives with his family in a 19th century house he continues to renovate in a Boston suburb.
