- - Magaly Morales was born in Veracruz, Mexico. She was trained in competitive sports and had a big interest in drawing and painting from an early age. As a teenager she studied Graphic Design in the Gestalt School of Design. Morales is now a freelance designer, and a Physical Education teacher. Morales lives in Mexico with her husband and two children.
- - One of the most anthologized of Latina writers, Carmen Tafolla has published work for both children and adults in more than two hundred anthologies, magazines, journals, textbooks, and readers. Long considered one of the madrinas of Chicana Literature and a master of bilingual code-switching, Tafolla is the author of more than fifteen books, seven screenplays, and numerous articles and essays.
- - Julia Alvarez is a writer whose most notable work is "How the Garcia Girls Lost Their Accents," a discussion of her life in the Dominican Republic and in the United States and the hardships members of her family faced as immigrants. Many of her works examine the conflicts and benefits that go along with living as both a Dominican and an American.
