- - Acclaimed artist Brian Pinkney is the illustrator of several highly praised picture books, including "The Faithful Friend," "In the Time of the Drums" and "Duke Ellington." He is a graduate of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and holds a master's degree in illustration from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Pinkney has won numerous awards, including two Caldecott Honors, four Coretta Scott King Honors and a Coretta Scott King Award, among many others. He often collaborates with wife Andrea Davis Pinkney, and they have just published "Hand in Hand: Ten Black Men Who Changed America."
- - Andrea Davis Pinkney is the New York Times best-selling and award-winning author of numerous books for children and young adults, including picture books, novels, works of historical fiction and nonfiction. Her novels include "With the Might of Angels" and "Bird in a Box." Her picture book "Duke Ellington" won a Caldecott Honor and a Coretta Scott King Honor. She often collaborates with her husband, Brian Pinkney. Together they have recently published "Hand in Hand: Ten Black Men Who Changed America."
