- - Peter Sís is a critically acclaimed children’s author, illustrator and filmmaker. He is a MacArthur Fellow and has received three Caldecott Honors, a Robert Silbert Medal, four Boston Globe-Horn Book Awards and the Hans Christian Andersen Award for illustration. His books include “The Wall: Growing up Behind the Iron Curtain,” “Starry Messenger: Galileo Galilei,” “Tibet Through the Red Box,” “Rainbow Rhino,” “Beach Ball,” “Follow the Dream,” “Komodo!,” “A Small Tall Tale from the Far Far North,” “The Three Golden Keys,” “The Tree of Life: Charles Darwin,” and his newest picture book, “Ice Cream Summer.' He also creates editorial illustrations that have appeared in Time, Newsweek, Esquire, The Atlantic Monthly and various magazines worldwide. Sís was born in Czechoslovakia and now lives in New York with his family.
