  • -  Ken Burns may be best known for his monumental documentary "The Civil War," which was viewed by more than 40 million people when it premiered in 1990, but he has been producing groundbreaking documentaries for more than 30 years, including "Baseball," "Jazz" and "The Brooklyn Bridge." He has won 13 Emmy Awards, been twice-nominated for an Academy Award and in 2008 received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. Some of his recent documentaries are "The Address," "The Roosevelts: An Intimate History" and "Cancer: The Emperor of All Maladies." He is also the author of several nonfiction books, including his latest, "Grover Cleveland, Again! A Treasury of American Presidents" (Knopf). Ken Burns lives in New Hampshire.
