-  A frequent commentator on Washington public affairs television shows, Helene Cooper is a Pentagon reporter for The New York Times. She was previously the newspaper's assistant editorial page editor, a diplomatic correspondent and White House correspondent. In 2015, the newspaper won a Pulitzer Prize for international reporting during the Ebola scare, and Cooper was on the team that reported it. Cooper has written the New York Times best-seller "The House at Sugar Beach: In Search of a Lost African Childhood," a memoir of growing up in Monrovia, Liberia. She has recently written "Madame President: The Extraordinary Journey of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf," about the leader of the Liberian women's movement and the first democratically elected female president in African history. Sirleaf also won the Nobel Peace Prize.
