Congress and the president have approved new funds for the Library to recover from the anthrax threat and other security measures following the events of Sept. 11. -

ISLAM IN AMERICA
The Library's African and Middle Eastern Division and the Office of Scholarly Programs recently sponsored the eighth in a series of symposia on Islam. -
CIVIL WAR DIARIST
The nation's capital was a city in crisis during the Civil War years. One civil servant of the era, Horatio Nelson Taft, kept a diary of those years, and the Library has made it available online.
