About the Cover

June 2006 cover

In 1951 Jacqueline Bouvier was the "Inquiring Camera Girl" for the Washington Times-Herald. Her job was to ask amusing questions of people, and the answers would appear alongside her photo of the subject. One such subject was the young Sen. John Kennedy, whom she later married. This photo, and more than a million others in the Library's Prints and Photographs Division, are available online. New York World-Telegram and Sun Newspaper Photograph Collection, Prints and Photographs Division
