Scholars John Hope Franklin and Yu Ying-shih shared the 2006 John W. Kluge Prize for lifetime achievement in the study of humanity. -
BRAILLE CERTIFICATION
The National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped will turn over braille certification administration to the National Federation of the Blind. -
SAVING FILM
The Librarian of Congress has named 25 new titles to the National Film Registry. -
CATALOGING IN THE 21ST CENTURY
The Library has convened a working group on the future of bibliographic control. -

The Library's Web site has won the Internet equivalent of the Oscar. -
CHANGING OF THE GUARD
As the 110th Congress convened, the Library hosted a series of swearing-in events for new and returning members of Congress. -

The Library was called on to supply meaningful religious texts to members of Congress for their swearing-in ceremonies. -

Former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor attended a Library symposium celebrating women's emancipation in Tunisia and examining the role of women in the Middle East. -
THE DA VINCI SKETCH
Leonardo da Vinci's preparatory drawing for "Adoration of the Magi" had its first public display outside of Italy at the Library in December.
