the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the Library hosted
a symposium and launched an online exhibition of some of the
historical treasures in the fight for freedom.

Prominent scholars addressed the history and future of the NAACP in a day-long symposium hosted by the Library. -

NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Jealous, members of Congress and other dignitaries came to the Library to celebrate African American Heritage Month. -

Poet Laureate Kay Ryan has launched a companion website to her project to infuse poetry into community colleges. -
HEART’S SONGS
The Poet Laureate introduced 2010 Witter Bynner poetry fellows Jill McDonough and Atsuro Riley, who read from their work at a Library event. -
EYE’S DELIGHT
Despite record snowfall, thousands took delight in one of the most beautiful spaces in the world, as the Library opened its Main Reading Room for a special open house event. -

The Library has acquired two beautiful works that pay homage to Renaissance masters. -

A Library employee and curator of materials by Scottish poet Robert Burns discovered a one-of-a-kind letter from Burns’ wife.
