Since its "Year of the Reader" campaign in 1977, the Center for the Book's reading promotion campaigns have raised national awareness about the importance of reading and created new partnerships for the Library of Congress. The "Building a Nation of Readers" campaign culminates in 2000, the year of the Library of Congress's bicentennial.
