MapThe Battle [of Missionary Ridge, November 25, 1864]. After a day of fierce fighting "above the clouds" on November 24, the Confederates retained a tenuous hold on Lookout Mountain. In this image the focus has shifted to Missionary Ridge. Arrows show the direction of attack as the Union forces under Thomas broke through the Confederate defenses, sending Bragg's army in retreat.
